My “skincare routine” formerly consisted of wiping off my makeup and applying some moisturizer. Recently, however, my love for skincare has increased; and with the help of many recommendations, I’ve developed an in-depth routine that leaves me feeling refreshed and has yielded incredible results. This has helped me realize the benefit of treating your skin with the utmost care that it deserves. I’ll admit, finding the right skincare products can feel like a daunting task. With so many products out there, it can be incredibly difficult to identify those that will actually benefit you and are worth your money. One tool that has helped me in my search is Hama Beauty: a platform that uses data science to curate personalized product recommendations based on your skin tone and type, age, and needs. If you have spent hours reading reviews and doing the research before making a purchase, Hama Beauty will definitely help you save time and find the right products for you.
When you first arrive on Hama’s website, pressing “take the quiz” will direct you to a short questionnaire that allows the Hama technology to get to know you and your skin. The quiz took me around three minutes and the results provided me with hundreds of skincare products to choose from — all of which I knew were right for my personal skin type. You can also filter the items depending on what type of product you’re searching for. For example, if you’ve been eyeing a few serums, but aren’t sure which one is right for you, simply apply the filter to display serums only. I’ve taken many personalized skin and hair type quizzes online, but never have I taken one that is backed by as much information as Hama’s. Hama technology filters through more than half a million reviews, 10,000 products and 400 brands in the few seconds that it takes to prepare your personalized list. I find trust in knowing that Hama is not trying to market any one brand or product to me, but is using their technology to find what products will actually work well for me.
I already shared my love for Drunk Elephant in a previous post, but I want to share some of my other favorite products, several of which are on Hama’s site and were suggested for my skin type.
First up in my bag is the Byroe Bitter Green Essence Toner (the larger green bottle to the left). This toner is beautiful and is filled with 33 antioxidant-rich greens. It combines artichoke, broccoli, and matcha (my favorite) into a perfect toner that combats dehydration, aging, and rough or uneven skin.
Next to the toner is Glossier’s Balm Dotcom in the Rose color. This has a “barely-there” tint and is so moisturizing for my lips. It has antioxidants and is formulated with castor oil, beeswax, and lanolin. I highly recommend it!
Above those two is the French Girl Organics Rose Lip Polish. This is a sugar scrub that removes dry skin and leaves my lips feeling very hydrated! It’s so, so smooth and I love the combo of rose and mint!
I’m also a huge self-tanner girl, and one of my favorite products for achieving a natural-looking sunkissed glow is the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops. I use the “Dark” shade because I like a noticeable tan. The product is intended to be mixed with moisturizer so that it is smooth and doesn’t result in color blotches. You can use this on your whole body as you moisturize, but I prefer to use a tanning mousse on my body, and reserve these drops for my face. One to two drops goes a long way.
Next to the tanning drops is the Ole Henriksen Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser (found on Hama’s site)! This is a great cleanser for combination skin types, like mine, which I learned thanks to Hama. It’s perfect for reducing oil without drying out your skin too much. We love a good balance!
At the very top of the photo is one of my all-time favorite treatments: the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial. I mentioned this in my Drunk Elephant Blog Post, but it’s essentially an at-home facial perfect for once a week use. It’s exfoliating, clarifying, and hydrating. I seriously love this product SO much.
Next is the beautiful Dior Lip Glow Diormania (found on Hama beauty)! This has always been a favorite of mine, so when Hama suggested that it’s perfect for achieving smooth and soft lips, I wasn’t surprised. I have seen the magic that this product works firsthand and I can’t recommend it enough. Such a beautiful, yet subtle, glow on your lips!
Last but not least is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. I think this product is great for a mist of hydration at any point throughout the day – whether that be before bed or when you’re starting your day and looking for a refresh. This was a perfect find on Hama, and although I hear mixed reviews of this product online, I think it’s effectiveness depends entirely on your skin type. That’s another reason why taking a skin quiz like Hama’s is so important. Just because a product works for your friend or your favorite influencer, doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you in the same way. It’s 2020 people, let’s get into personalized skincare recommendations!
If you use Hama’s beauty quiz, let me know what products were suggested to you! I’d love to hear. Also, if you have experience in the past with a product that worked well for your friend but not for you (or vice versa), let me know! I love exploring how different products work on different skin types.
