LA is a constant content opportunity – whether you’re visiting or call it home. While January in LA isn’t always the warm, sunny, paradise you might be thinking of, there are still plenty of fun content locations for ~chilly~ LA. And although it might not be perfect weather for walking on the Santa Monica Pier or in Malibu, these are my favorite LA spots for content in the “cold.”
NoMad Hotel DTLA Rooftop & Coffee Bar
The NoMad Hotel downtown has a GORGEOUS rooftop open to the public. It has a stunning pool next to the cutest restaurant, all sitting on top of an amazing view of the LA skyline. I suggest going a little before sunset, and I promise you you’re going to be obsessed with the photos you get.
La Tropizienne DTLA
This is the cutest little coffee shop in downtown. It gives off adorable vibes and their lattes are fantastic. The owners and staff are all incredibly nice and I promise you they will be your hype people when you start to take photos.
Walking around Melrose
You can never go wrong just walking around the Melrose area. I do this at least once a week (LOL) because I just love exploring new shops and being outside, even if it is a little chilly. Recently, my friend and I discovered a brand new (it was their first day open) vintage shop on Melrose called Cloud Hunter. Then, we continued to walk around and found adorable photo locations on the street and at places like Reformation and Reformation Vintage. One of my favorite spots ever is Coffee Dose in Melrose, which gives the “Anti Bitch Serum” coffee cups. You can request a bunch of different sayings or pictures for your latte art, and they also have a variety of vegan pastry options that we love!
Bottega Louie
Bottega Louie is a classic indoor photo spot in LA. It’s a cute coffee shop and bakery, with a restaurant in the back. Go there for a midday snack, or just for a yummy chai latte and a macaron (or ten). I promise you won’t be disappointed, and make sure to try and snag one of the tables where people won’t be in the background of your shot.
Dolls Kill – Fairfax
Okay, don’t judge but Dolls Kill has the BEST photo spots and setups. They have these amazing props and colorful walls in the dressing rooms that make for the perfect background of any photo. This was one of the most fun campaigns I did this fall (with @shoptrendyi) because I got to take pics in the adorable set in front of this futuristic mirror setup in Dolls Kill! They change the store a lot, so be sure to head in whenever you can for the most fun shots!
Intercontinental DTLA
Totally underrated is the Intercontinental Hotel in DTLA. Whether you want to stay there during your stay in LA, get dinner at the yummy sushi restaurant on the 69th floor (they have a revolving sushi bar!) or simply go to the top floor for a breathtaking view of the LA skyline, this is always the perfect spot.
